Snow came early this year to Zurich: November 21, the same day the Christmas markets opened.

I camped out at @nudezurich for the afternoon: with its huge windows overlooking the banks of the Limmat, near the scene pictured here, I knew it would be perfect for a dark snowy day.

Afterwards, I dusted down the duck boots just to tromp quickly through the nearest market; it's rare enough to actually experience them covered with snow.

Lots of folks had the same idea and were happily crunching their ways alongside me on foot.

In the distance, drivers seemed even more worked up than usual; I turned my face away and dreamed of a long festive winter.
