An unseasonably warm day amongst unseasonably warm days.

Lots to do, but what's the point in making your own hours if you never just up and take the afternoon off?

Concerned that our local go-to trail would still be covered in snow, I figured a hike beside a lake was a better option.

Which one?

Well, one of the joys here is that everywhere is accessible by public transport.

My process:

• fire up Google Maps
• zoom out a little from Zurich
• stick a pin in some mid-sized lake
• check the travel time, just to be sure
• go!

Lauerz was less than an hour away.

The lake is a little less accessible than I'd like - stretches of houses with gardens right up to the water and a medium-busy road alongside the trail in the remainder - but the local trails up the hill were really fun, the melting snow photogenic, and those mountains reflected in the lake...
