The brief: someplace warm, miss just one day of classes.
I knew Malaga only from ads for package holidays but it checked those two boxes - and I've never had a bad time in Spain.
True once again.
Some highlights:
A 13 minute train ride from the airport right to the old city which, even more so than some other Spanish cities I’ve visited, proved largely car-free and a pleasure to walk around.
A sunny morning scampering about the Alcazaba, an 11th century fortress high above the city.
Multiple extended visits to @bodegaelpimpi, @taberna_uvedoble, and @santacoffeeshop.
Yes, there's a lot of good spots but the menus are long: we went deep.
A couple more cocktails than planned for at @ghettococktail, and perhaps-one-too-many beers lounging around outside @elrincondelcervecero.
Wonderful Belgian and Spanish art at the @thyssenmalaga.
He might have been born in Malaga but this was a Picasso-free trip!
All in all, much more to see and do than expected.
Next time, add a day trip nearby: the infrastructure is decent, and it would work up a bigger appetite for those long dinners.
