The last big trip of 2019 was somewhere you've definitely heard of by now: Wuhan, China.
My wife's home town, I've visited several times in the past few years and have come to look forward to our (roughly annual) visits.
A huge city with thousands of years of history, it's sad to see modern Wuhan become famous outside China only now, for the wrong reasons.
In the next few posts I want to share a Wuhan you're unlikely to see on the TV right now; a Wuhan I've enjoyed discovering these past few years and one I look forward to revisiting once all this is over.
First off, East Lake and surroundings.
The largest lake in any city in China, the entire East Lake area has been preserved for walking, running, and cycling.
Easily accessible by public transport, it's a surprisingly huge and calming car-free oasis in this busy metropolis.
